WOW! Nice capture! I, too, don't like them very much but I don't doubt their place in the ecosystem.

Olive Harvesting Killing Millions of Birds

Loads of postings about techniques and tackle! But only 18 about birds being killed by totally wrong harvest methods. Instead of buying olives and olive related products of duboius origin why not leaving the oil and other products where they are? On the groceries' shelves.

I approve! Are the tourist guides armed to be ready in a case of emergency? Which probably will cause the death of species being disturbed in his own habitat.

Help with a first time owl nesting box

Hello jordn613, here is my version of a nest box for owls. At least this was the plan. As you may judge from the pictures I attached, the box is attracting lots of animals. One is our own cat. The other predator is still not identified. Could be a pine marten. The first guess was a brown owl...

Comment by 'Guest' in media 'Eastern Coyote Pup'

Nice shot. If you wouldn't have told us that it was a coyote I would have said: red fox. I like the use of trail cams. Obviously the don't deliver the quality of a handheld camera concerning the composition but they give us the opportunity to gain insights which are "closed to the...

    Identifying Antique Zeiss Binoculars

Something like that? http://www.fernglasmuseum.at/museum/zeiss_telonar_12mal40/zeiss_telonar_12mal40.html But according to this page a Zeiss 12x40 was built between 1919 an 1936. SN 67922 nevertheless dates back into 1904.

    Leica 7x42 BN

Rob, nice find. Keep 'em. Especially because they are green. The other day last year in winter when I arrived by suburban train in the town where I work it was quite early, 6 a. m., when I had some time and made a stroll to the camera store next to the railway station there was a 7x42 BA in...

    House direction

I hope the nestbox for the woodpecker will be successful. I also tried it for Great Spotted Woodpecker but they didn't accept the boxes. AFAIK woodpeckers need boxes to work at. They won't accept boxes with pre-installed entrance holes to move into the next box. Would you mind to share some...

‘Hensoldt’ your classic Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 (or 8x56)

It is almost impossible to get a reliable source for this job. Unfortunately it's not like taking the CZJ-SN-Chart and push your index finger up and down to to get to the dob (date of birth) of your particular Zeiss-West-binos. There is no other way to contact Zeiss Sport Optics. But they will...

LEITZ’S TRINOVIDS - Models and Numbering

Please, let me again ask my question: Comparing the Trinovids of the pre-BA/BN era (the one that will or will not soon to be re-introduced as the retro-Trinovid) with the BA/BN-type is there any significant difference in the picture delivered or, in other words, is there a slight hue to be...

Comparing the Trinovids of the pre-BA/BN era (the one that will or will not soon to be re-introduced as the retro-Trinovid) with the BA/BN-type is there any significant difference in the picture or in other words is there an even slight hue to be recognized? I remember fairly well that back...
