    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, my advise is to test your lens/camera combo at a static subject. Put your combo on a tripod. Make one picture with normal AF (through your view finder) and make one by using live view. If there is a difference between these two pictures, you need to "fine tune" your AF. Fine tuning in your...

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi Andrew, About your 100-400 lens... If you always have to crop much, you are in need of more length. I would consider and/or try out a 150-600 lens. Which, Tamron or Sigma...??? I wouldn't know... I bought the Sigma because of its fine tuning possibilities with its docking station. With the...

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, the 4 pics are cropped while shooting, I shot them in 1.2 mode (720 mm)... (Nikon D750) As I could see in the "Flickr" Exif, I didn't do more cropping. In the serie, the two nest pics are cropped a bit more to get more into details. Shooting distance was between 50 and 75 meter.

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, a few weeks back, I updated the firmware from my Sigma with its docking station. It worked very easy, no problem. As Roy C mentioned September last year, that was for Canon only. But I'm enjoying my Nikon D750... Now it's his turn... The AF of the lens is really noticeable faster now. I...

Happy with new tripod (Sirui N-3204X) and new gimbal (Nest NT-530H)

Hi, thanks to Carter Bouslaugh's help from Camera Cottage (USA), I could disassemble the upper axle. I also disassembled the lower pivot point again and cleaned it from the copper grease. I greased everything with Teflon based oil/grease and assembled everything. Here are my parts: Nest NT 530H...

Happy with new tripod (Sirui N-3204X) and new gimbal (Nest NT-530H)

Hi, After some try outs, I finally could buy a Sirui N-3204X carbon tripod. I bought it new, for a small price, at e-bay (40% less a shop price... ), in France. I also bought a Sirui K-20x ballhead, I changed the Sirui quick change plate for a Manfrotto 323 quick change plate. I like it better...

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, It's a pitty, Roy C has left the building... But that's hís choice. Okay, the 150-600 lenses (both Sigma and Tamron) aren't the best lenses. Several are much better. But these lenses are much, much more expensive and much heavier. I am going to enjoy this Sigma for a long time, I hope. I...

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, +1. Why do others shoot these people, if they can't get the same results...? If this is the way Isaac want great numbers on Flickr... So what. I don't mind, I don't care. Others can do that also. Learn from each other and enjoy the pictures. Ad B

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, Yes, you're right... I want to make pics with the Storks coming flying towards its nest, the "greeting" scene (if they do that after spring time...) and the way they are together. Does that fit in one nest? Ad B

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi I've read it in a review by a certain Onasj at Dpreview and Nikon rumors. Last week I have asked him how he did get to the conclusion, to multiply the Nikon numbers by 2. No answer (yet?). I changed my results again to the original numbers (not multiplying). I think my result is better now...

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi, yesterday, I was playing with the Sigma lens and its USB dock. I use "the dot method" for AF fine tuning. I've read somewhere that I have to double the Nikon numbers in the Sigma dock... I still have to try if this is treu. You can read my result in the attachment. Ad B

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi Roy, Thanks Roy. I use a Kenko Teleplus 1.4x PRO300 DGX. But at the longer end, when the minimum aperture gets above f8, AF is struggeling. Sometimes no AF. AF with live view works quite okay. Maybe I have to try the Sigma 1.4 extender, the 1401. Or maybe the older version... By the way, I...

    New Sigma 150/600 contemporary

Hi all, last Saturday I could try the Sigma 150-600 lenses. Both the Sport and Contemporary. I really liked the Contemporary. I made one shot, over a little lake, about 50 meter, from a double slide above the water... At 600 mm, with the shutter at 1/80 sec...! With the check at my camera...
