    What is the purpose of heterodactyl feet?

    Trogons supposedly have very weak feet, and they don't seem weight efficient either. Both anisodactyl and zygodactyl seem superior to heterodactyl, so why would trogons evolve heterodactyl feet from an ancestor with anisodactyl feet? Thanks.
