    Binocular advice please

Eagle Optics has the Intrepid ED 7x36 for 65% off now. I have the 10x42 and it is a great binocular for the price. http://www.eagleoptics.com/binoculars/atlas-optics/atlas-optics-intrepid-ed-7x36-binocular

    Polycarbonate or Magnesium?

I was merely asking if there were any reasons to choose one material over another. The material does not matter to me as long as it is durable, of good quality, and well-built.

Any preferences for either polycarbonate or magnesium binos?

    Atlas Intrepid ED

You get ED glass and silver prism coating. I am still trying to decide if I should go with the 8x instead of 10x.

    Atlas Intrepid ED

I got my Atlas Intrepid ED 10x42 today from Eagle Optics ($149 markdown from $600). I used them today to look at some birds and planes in cloudy light conditions. I think the performance is quite good. There is a little aberration around the edges and eye cups could be a little better, but the...

    New Binocular Advice

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on Atlas Intrepid ED 10x42 for $149 with free shipping. Couldn't pass up that price. I suppose if the magnification is too much, I can return for 8x42 or Atlas 8x42.

    New Binocular Advice

I will probably go with the Atlas Radian or Intrepid. Not particularly find of the double hinge, but for the price, I can live with it.

Thanks for all of the advice so far. What do you think of the Vanguard 8x42 Spirit ED Binocular or the Atlas Radian?

    New Binocular Advice

I will look into the Sightron. Is there a 42mm version. What do you think of the Atlas models? Other suggestions?

    New Binocular Advice

I am looking for a good binocular preferably with roof prisms for around $200. Should I go with 8x or 10x? I am currently using a Japanese 1980s/1970s Bushnell 7x35 (with 11 degree FOV) that I got at a thrift store for $10. Does ED, HD, etc. glass and dielectric coating make a big difference? I...

    8x42 vs. 8x56

This is the pair I am currently using. I also have a newer compact Bushnell 8x32 I use sometimes. From what I understand, virtually all bins are made in China now, even companies located in Germany.

    8x42 vs. 8x56

I currently use a vintage (1980s) Bushnell 7x35 porro binocular. I am planning on purchasing a roof design some time in the future. For about the same price, I am planning on getting either a Steiner 8x42 or Celestron 8x56. Does the larger objective lens make that much of a difference? Is...
