No answers yet, so I'll give it a go. #1 Agreed. #2 Not a GBBG. Bill is rather slim. Looks like a juvenile Herring Gull to me.

    ABA Big Year 2019

Congartulations to John! Marvelous Alaska Christmas run. Is Siberian Tit (sorry, just can't get used to the american name) still possible? I understand it's very difficult, but John got it in 2016.

2016 John got Whooper Swan on the last possible moment. I think he will try to the very end this year. http://www.birdingfordevils.com/p/this-is-listing-of-species-so-far.html

John's latest blog post about the futile search of Nutting's Flycatcher and clarifications on his observation dates mixup mentioned by Muppit17. Sadly no new species. Next target is Black-headed Gull. https://birdingyear.com/arizona-innings-over/

    ABA Big Year 2019

I have 872 species seen in ABA area (compiled from ABA blog rare bird reports). Anyway, I think "very possible" might be an exaggeration, but I think it's certainly possible. - It's likely that there will be new splits if current taxonomic trend continues. - There's additional species potential...

    ABA Big Year 2019

John is missing 38 species seen by him in 2016. Those marked with asterisk have been seen this year by other Big Year birders, according to Joe's sheet. * Short-tailed Hawk (2) Whooper Swan (3) Common Pochard (3) * Steller’s Eider (3) Smew (3) Mariana Swiftlet (3) - HAWAII * Curlew Sandpiper...

    ABA Big Year 2019

You are right, totally forgot that the Parakeet is provisional. Speaking of provisionals: does anyone know what's the status of Stejneger's Scoter? Some Big Year birders have that on Joe's list.

    ABA Big Year 2019

Yellow-chevroned Parakeet added. Next Australia visit (4th-7th). Now a 831 (including three provisionals) + 36 (not seen in 2016, including three provisionals) - 42 (seen in 2016, not seen yet this year, including two code 1's and two code 2's). Still needing a few rarities to break the record.

    ABA Big Year 2019

I think it has to be an error, he left Elepaio instead of Swiftlet on the target list. There are pictures of Oahu Elepaios on his blog:https://birdingyear.com/oahu-birds-are-tough/

    ABA Big Year 2019

Mariana Swiftlet is the only Hawaii species missed by John that he saw in 2016. He got five species from Hawaii not seen/countable in 2016, so I think overall he's happy about Hawaii birding this year. Indian Peafowl (2) Juan Fernandez Petrel (3) Black-winged Petrel (3) Newell's Shearwater (3)...

    ABA Big Year 2019

Apparently he's not intrested in Continental ABA record: John's "hit list" from the blog post. Only obvious bird missing is Stejneger's Scoter. Is it still possible and is it going to be split officially? Lake Tahoe: Yellow-browed Warbler(trying tomorrow after missing the Canada bird!)...
