    Painted Bunting, Female

After trading cameras. This is the female. The male was never as pretty as when first taken - seemed to be molting, or something.

    Painted Bunting, Male

Taken last Spring. Not proud of results. Traded brand of camera soon after...but it does show the colors right well.

    Wild Parrots

Any idea what type they were? The Monk/Quaker do quite well in the wild.

    Male House Finch

Pretty little birds. I had one at my feeder this morning for the first time this season. He had his back to me but I hoped he'd turn around so held the shutter button down for about 17 shots...he never turned toward me and by the time the camera had written to card and I was ready to shot again...

This pose O.K., Mr. Bill? (Goldfinch)

No, Mike, my pet bird (Quaker) won't let me get this close! 3:-)

This pose O.K., Mr. Bill? (Goldfinch)

It would have been if he'd gotten that seed hull off his feathers!

    Dove steadying fledgling on branch

The fledgling has just gone from nest to this branch in same tree and about 5 feet from the nest. The parent dove appears to be steadying it on the branch. Both flew off within minutes. For some reason the doves have used this same nest site for 5 years and it is located within 50 feet of our...

White-winged & Inca Dove, side by side

The White-winged dove is about same size as a Mourning Dove, maybe a tad larger, but the Inca Dove is small and not considered a 'game' bird because of small size. http://home.earthlink.net/~wsumrall/TempImages/WWing_IncaDove.jpg

    Tufted Titmouse on seed bell.

The seed bell was store bought. Just using Oly 2100 but am close to subject - 5 feet or so, and shooting through a window. The main trick I use to get a good pose, etc. (since I can't anticipate a bird's action) is to hold shutter button down and get 17 rapid shots in HQ mode. Then I look to...

    Summer Tanager-Male

Another colorful bird. I believe your birds are more colorful than I see around my place in TX. Maybe it is the time of year, but our Goldfinches have very little color and we don't have any other type around here which I'd call 'colorful'.

    Mountain Bluebird

Boy, that is a colorful bird. Wish we had a few down here.

    Introducing Junior

Yes, a pretty and colorful bird. Great story.

    Another Goldfinch shot

The distance was about 5 feet. I have a moveable cedar 'tree' about 7 feet tall which I move around. From the tree I have feeders hanging as well as holes in the trunk for suet. I shoot from a window which is mostly covered by old newspaper except for the small area thru which I shoot. Here is...

The Goldfinch returned to north Texas several weeks ago after spending the summer up north.
