Kowa 883 star test result help

Thank you all for the replies/assistance. I am enjoying this scope. I took it to Yellowstone National park and grand Teton to observe the fall leaves and wildlife a month ago. My wife and I are thoroughly enjoying the clear images. My children also enjoy looking into the night sky. This star...

Kowa 883 star test result help

I could only get one side of the focus to come through. The other side looked like an out of focus blob. I’m going to try again this weekend and see if I can do better.

Kowa 883 star test result help

It was about 3 hours after sunset so the moon was not very high compared to the middle of the night. I guess I could have overlooked the alignment of the camera over the eye piece. The 883 is an angled Kowa scope. The temp was dropping, it was about 40 degrees F. The scope was on a tripod...

Kowa 883 star test result help

I also took some pics through my phone Skope the other night of the full moon. Can anyone explain why I have the blue color around the top of the moon but not the bottom?

Kowa 883 star test result help

I took a few more pics tonight. I am only able to see clear rings on one side of the focus. It’s very blurry when I focus to the other side of “in focus” and I’m not able to see clear rings. Is this something I’m doing wrong or the scope?

Kowa 883 star test result help

I took some images through my phone scope of my LED flashlight at 100feet/30m. I’m not doing something right because I was not able to get the clarity of other images posted on here of star test results. Can any one make any sense of these? I’ll try again the next clear/dark night we have.

Step up from Vortex Optics Razor HD Spotting Scope 27-60x85 Angled?

I will Second what @Tringa45 stated for the Kowa 883. I have one(with the 1.6x as well), as well as a vortex razor hd (the one you returned). The clarity and quality of the Kowa 883 glass is an obvious upgrade upgrade over the Vortex Razor HD. During full light/mid-day I think you would be happy...

Any customer review of new tsn-99?

Has anyone had any additional experience with the 99? I love my 883 and WANT to love the 99 for the increased light gathering but am hesitant with these observations shared by so many. As many have stated before, I'm not sure if it is worth the hassle of ordering multiple and returning in order...

Buying a new scope (Kowa 883 or Nikon Monarch ED82)...

What about the previous 883's led you to return them? Star test, something more obvious? Just asking out of curiosity. I use my 883 for digiscoping wildlife/birding and have had great success.
