    Buzzard sp Cyprus

    Is this juv Buteo rufinus rufinus or a Common Buzzard? Apart from its field marks, its jizz was long-winged and it hovered a lot. Views? (Spring, Aspro Dam area) Fergus

    Wheatear in Cyprus

    I digiscoped this bird in March 2005 and thought it was a male Black-eared Wheatear of the ssp [I]melanoleuca[I]. However the black 'bridge' between the facial mask and the wing suggests Desert Wheatear. I would be grateful for comments. FJB

    This photo was taken in September 2006 in the Troodos Mts in Cyprus. Spotted flycatchers were abundant at the time, but this bird did not seem quite right in jizz or colouration - note the slightly rufous flanks. If it's spotted fly, it would seem to be a juv. Other common birds at the time...
