    7D draining battery.

I followed the youtube video and fixed the problem on my 7D where the screw come out. A bit tricky getting the plastic bottom off the camera but if you are used to doing these sort of delicate electronic repairs it's not a big deal and only took 15 minutes to complete the job. The error was...

    100-400mm II

I'm yet to be impressed with the mk2 if you compare your moon shot with my snap taken with an ancient 300mm f4 for detail. I very much hope the mk2 can perform much better as I have my eye on it for a walk about lens. I never liked the pump action of the mk1 but I like the action of the mk2's...

Write protection problem in old canon rebel- help?

The switch on the SD card is not a switch but a bit of plastic that operates the switch in the SD card holder. So looks like a camera repair :(

    Seeing Double ~ through my 400mm f5.6?

If the shots come out OK It maybe worth getting an eye test if you are 50+, this distorted vision could be a sign of AMD. The distortion is often intermittent. http://www.rnib.org.uk/eyehealth/eyeconditions/conditionsac/Pages/amd.aspx I can speak from personal experience.

    Decreasing battery life (Canon 40D)

Classic sign of battery ageing. Battery ageing depends speed of charging and the number of charges. Typically most systems are designed to give an acceptable charge time and a total number of charges of 500 to 1000 which equates to about 3 to 4 yrs. Also Lithium ion battery life is badly...

Your opinions on image quality question

I'm by no means a BIF expert but attached is a result from yesterday. Not that I would consider it a keeper but as the bird was of a similar size in the frame to yours so I thought it maybe of use to compare. I always use AF point expansion and a tip I was given was to track the bird for a few...

    Compactflash

As far as I can tell Mac have been dragging it's heels on implementing USB 3.0 to their range of machines in favour using some other system. I paid £25 for the Lexar USB 3.0 compact flash card reader and £8 for the PC interface card.

    Compactflash

USB 3.0 Card Reader For a while I'd been toying with idea of upgrading my PC with a new USB 3.0 interface card and a Lexar USB 3.0 compact flash card reader. Well the temptation became too much and I bit the bullet and ordered the parts. All fitted and working. Results are 42 7D Raw files =...

    Canon 2X TC cover/cap question

I have just dug out my body cap and compared with the TC cap. The TC cap is nearly double the depth of the body cap. It maybe worth giving a H. Lehmann Ltd a call to see if they can supply the part.
