Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

That's an absolute disgrace. No consideration whatsoever for the environment.

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Hope you had some luck today but they didn't seem to be around when I left for work at 0700hrs. There were some on Marlowe Road on 23rd April last year (the final birds in Cheshire & Wirral last winter).

Dawlish Road, off Marlowe Road. They were there up until at least 0900hrs but there were none there at 1700hrs. There were 6 on Marlowe Road yesterday afternoon.

Liverbird Watching and Nature Discovery Cruises

I don't think you can complain that the wildlife 'was poor'. It's either there or it's not. The tannoyman did his best to keep people's interest on what was a very quiet day on the bird/mammal front & yes, we did see one of the Grey Seals.

Cheshire And Wirral Birding: Hills, Lowland and Coast

Well done Richard for making the point in the way you did. Unfortunately the people who did this, & have no doubt been reading this thread, apparently don't care what others think or for the welfare of this bird...evidenced by the comments in Sid's post. I imagine these are all North West...

New Years Day Hawfinches in Wales

I've been to Llanbedr yn Cennin & Caer Hun churchyard (which is off the main road on the left just before you turn right to Llanbedr) on a number of occasions in recent years but have yet to see Hawfinch.......which remains my bogey bird after 40 years birding! However, I did see the Black...

    Tripod For Kowa Tsn-821

Thanks for all your observations (& offer!). I have taken the plunge, having read comments on this & other threads & have (co-incidentally) gone for exactly the same setup as mark22c, ie manfrotto 055xb with 128rc head. Although I received it a few days ago I haven't yet had chance to test it in...

Thanks for your suggestion Pinussen. I'll have a look around the on-line stores to see what I can find.

    Tripod For Kowa Tsn-821

Thanks for your advice AC/DC. I'd like to get the best I can afford so wouldn't want to set a particular budget limit. As you suggest, there may be bargains to be had on ex demo models etc. Any other birders out there who are particularly satisfied with their current tripod, please?

    Tripod For Kowa Tsn-821

My ancient Slik Master tripod has finally given up the ghost having been used & abused for the last 20 or so years. What is the current tripod of choice for birders in the UK? My scope is an old Kowa TSN-821 & I need a sturdy tripod for seawatching etc but one that not too heavy to carry round...

At last at last a Blackcap in my garden

I've had 2 males and a female this winter. On most days just one male is around but a couple of days ago both male and female were present but seemed to spend most of their time chasing each other. Their food of choice seems to be fatballs. The male is very bold & is usually the first bird in...

    leighton moss

Great memories for me too. I spent 2 weeks as a voluntary warden there in late summer '74. Three of us lived in an old caravan with rats underneath & a disgusting chemical toilet! Went ringing with the Morecambe Bay Wader Ringing Group too. Its still the only place I've ever seen Otters. Abiding...

    A versatile digiscoping adapter

On the strength of reading the reviews in this thread, I've just bought the Baader Adapter from David Hinds. I ordered it on line on Sunday evening & received it today. At £30, including post & packing, I think it's excellent value & a great turnaround time. It's my first adapter & it connects...

    Best CP4500 replacement: Canon A95?

"You don't need to look so far, a UK company, SRB film, has a wide range of adaptor rings & will make to order. You can find them at http://www.srbfilm.co.uk." Has anyone tried/got the SRB digiscoping mount described in the link above? It sounds good but does it work as well as suggested? Col

    Initial Setup

I'm about to take the plunge & get my first digiscoping set up but before I hammer my credit card I'd appreciate some advice from those that have gone before! Please bear with me as I know from reading the various threads that others have asked similar questions, but none of them seems to...

    New Boy Saying Hello

Good morning everyone, Just joined the Forum having checked digiscoping links. I've been birding for almost 40 years &, having seen the amazing pictures posted on the web, I'm now getting the urge to try my hand at digiscoping. Looking to buy a camera & adapter to go with my scope & I'm sure...
