ID help please - UK, cornwall

ID help please - UK, cornwall

We are on holiday in Cornwall and had a walk across the coastal path at St. Agnes this afternoon, we spotted a bird which we can't id, it was about as small as a sparrow and had a syruppy like call. The terrain was coastal heath/moorland with heather. Any help appreciated.
