How can I attract birds to this feeding location? (photos)

Ermine is quite right! Most birds feed on or close to the ground and as close to shelter as possible. Your window feeders leave them terribly exposed. I would second Ermine's suggestion of pole feeders and perhaps some shrubs (in tubs or in the ground) to provide some shelter. My feeding station...

You're dead right there, Ray . . . which is why I always carry a camera! I've been back a few times to this location but the weather has been very oppresssing and the opportunities are have been rather lacking although I am cultivating a Jay at the moment (using my car as a hide) in the...

    Long tailed tits

Came across some seeds someone had put down on a fence at Park Lime Pits reserve in Walsall . . . the light was good so I just stopped to see what was going on. The next minute a flock of these chaps appeared and first one then the other dropped out of the trees and started feeding not eight...

    Fuji S9000

Hi guys I assume you are referring to the Fuji Finepix S9500, or does it have a different designation in Mexico? I bought the S5000 a couple of years ago and have been absolutley delighted with its performance (check out some of the results on my gallery page). I did look at teleconvertors but...

Nigel is right, but a beautiful composition, nonetheless! Although it's not allowed for the competition, you could always use the healing brush in Photoshop to remove the offending post and, voila! you have this year's Christmas cards!! Al

Shame these weren't Pochard ducklings . . . Perching Pochard has got a nice ring to it! Taken last June on the local canal, these Mallard ducklings were hopping on and off this plank and having a great time!

I think trusting is the word, rather than tame, youngbirder! The location is in a local nature reserve and quite a few people do go through this wood. As for getting it to eat out of my hand, I didn't have to try! The first time it happened, I was trying to entice some Blue Tits and Great Tits...

    Blackbird nesting - or what?

Our Blackbirds nested again this year in our holly but the magpies got the nestlings. She is now busy building a new nest in our neighbour's privet (which has been left to grow quite wild!). Nearly every year now she has ended up having to build at least three nests and the most fledged young we...
