Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

I can't believe how well this lens performs on my D7100 and D300s. I've been lugging big prime lenses with tripods, but old arm injuries make this more and more painful. Nor can I afford the 8K image stabilized 500 and 600mm primes. But, I sold my 300mm 2.8 VR and the AFS non-VR sits unused...

    Issue with Nikon D7000, 300mm f4+1,4 TC

I had this happen too, and remember reading that it had to do with wires/contacts loosening within the TC. I don't recall there being an easy fix, but I did take it apart to try (no luck there!). So, I bought another, and that solved the issue.

Acratech Long Lens Head - Opinion Wanted

Not sure if this is still relevant, but I've used a couple of Acratech's heads. I'm not aware of a specific long lens version that Acratech makes, but I used the GV-2 and Ultimate ball heads with my 300mm f4 AFS (Nikon) and 1.4x converter. This setup worked fairly well, but, I did end up...

Review by 'DFBHeron' on item 'B/CF 8x42'

I've owned my 10x42's that I bought used for a bargain ($350 in exc condition 7 yrs ago or so). My pair have been used and abused, and the eye cups have taken a beating and don't work as well or as smoothly as they once did--I tightened the screws on the inner cups--they work ok again. Only...

Conquest HD 8x42 - Zeiss will be providing new eyecups

Yes, I got mine for $560 USD on ebay--super lucky, as I haven't seen them for under $850 or so, and because they're the newer model, this was the only used pair listed... Makes it even sweeter.

Conquest HD 8x42 - Zeiss will be providing new eyecups

After a few days I'm getting used to using these COnquests, and they are impressive! I've figured out how to position my eyes in relation to the eyecups, and these have become the binos of preference for me. Still would be interested in hearing more about getting the updated eye cups.

Nikon 300 f4 plus tc vs 80-400 vr

You mean the new AFS 80-400mm VR, at roughly $2500 dollars. I agree About going for an older 300mm f2.8 (exactly what I did, for $2800), but then you also need to have a lightweight but sturdy tripod (not cheap), and a quality ball head/Gimbal head (not cheap). Even so, this adds a lot of...

Nikon 300 f4 plus tc vs 80-400 vr

I've used both for quite some time. The IQ at 420mm (with the TC 14e ii on the 300mm f4) is much better than the non-AFS 80-400VR at 400mm--at least in my experience. I've read that the new AFS 80-400mm has very good IQ at 400mm, but have no direct experience with this (yet). Zooms generally...

Conquest HD 8x42 - Zeiss will be providing new eyecups

8x42 eyecups anyone? I just got a set of the Conquest HD 8x42's for $560 (used once) on ebay. Heck of a deal, but right off the bat I noticed a problem with the eyecups sticking and not providing enough eye relief for non-glasses--I get that black circle thing going on until I rest the...

Nikon 300/4 ED-IF AF too slow?

AF-S vs AF D 300mm f4 I've used both and preferred the AF-S. I didn't use the earlier version much because I found it awkward to handle and much prefer the ability to use the manual focus without having to flip a switch. The switch on the AF-D is toward the end of the lens (if I remember...
