    Exposure settings on Coolpix 4500

Hi Roy, thanks for this. Does underexposure of 2/3 t 1 stop mean setting the minus value to 2.0? I think this is the max under-exposure value I am allowed John

    Exposure settings on Coolpix 4500

Thanks John, by taking a manual exposure on a nearby white subject - do you mean just focussing on something white? I tried playing with the exposure compensation settings - i.e setting this to minus 0.7 but it didn't seem to have much effect. Maybe it needs to be a greater minus value? Cheers...

    Exposure settings on Coolpix 4500

Hi, I recently took some pictures of gulls in very bright conditions and noticed that they looked very "bleached" out or overexposed afterwards. ISO was set to 100 on my Coolpix 4500, and shutter speed was at 1000. Does anybody have any tips on using the exposure settings to help combat this...

    20X Eypiece versus 32X (Leica)

Cheers Paul, I think you might be thinking of another John who was at the back, I was near the front beside a couple of chaps called Victor & Aidan. I have been experimenting with the ISO of late and this does indeed help with shutter speed. I have also tried out Neatimage on "noisy" pictures I...

    20X Eypiece versus 32X (Leica)

Hi Paul, I was at your course & could I just say probably the best 25 euro I have ever spent. I have been raving about it ever since. My compliments on the pictures which were nothing short of awesome. I took in what you said about adjusting the "f stop" by rotating the command dial to the...

    20X Eypiece versus 32X (Leica)

Thanks Ilkka, do you mind me asking which adapter you use? I use the EagleEye L1 Digimount - which I think does not allow the camera lense near enough to the eyepiece. I could be wrong here, but there is always a lot of vignetting with this adapter and the 32XWW Eyepiece ( so I have to zoom up...

    20X Eypiece versus 32X (Leica)

Hi Ilkka, Thanks for the above, when you refer to 20mm eye-relief being enough for the camera - I was a bit unsure about this, what did you mean exactly? I'm using Nikon CP 4500 (which I think has 4X zoom). I notice that when I attach my camera to the scope, the shutter speed invariably drops...

    20X Eypiece versus 32X (Leica)

Camera used with Leica APO 77 Hi Neil, sorry, forgot to mention that.. it's the Nikon Coolpix 4500. I am also using an Eagle Eye L1 28mm digimount adapter. I find that most of the pictures I take tend to be blurry or soft around the edges. I am also investing in a remote shutter release to...

    20X Eypiece versus 32X (Leica)

Hi, I've heard the lower magnification eyepieces are more suitable for digiscoping. I'm currently using 32XWW with Leica APO Televid 77 & find that picture quality tends to be blurry, so I was considering changing to a 20X eyepiece. Is there a marked difference between the two? Also I had heard...

County Louth (formerly Dundalk Bay) local patch.

I might just do that, it occured to me that the trees were cut down because some local resident didn't like the fact that they had birders behind their property. solution - get rid of trees to get rid of birders

County Louth (formerly Dundalk Bay) local patch.

Hi Breffni, had the twite on Sunday around 13:30 in the trees on the wasteground. There were at least 4 consorting with the linnets.I have some (really bad) pics if you would be interested in seeing them. The numbers wintering in Louth must be down big time on years ago. John Gallagher

Remote Shutter Release for CP 4500

Hi Mark, Thanks for the reply, I had heard there were certain issues with the length of time it took to start up etc. After looking at the pics I had taken just by pressing the shutter release button myself, I was convinced I needed some kind of remote shutter release. The EU-MC 1 seemed more...

Remote Shutter Release for CP 4500

Hi, I was considering purchasing the EU-MC 1 remote shutter release for the CP 4500 but had also looked at the mechanical alternative from Eagle Eye Optics. Could anyone advise me as to which is preferable? Thank You John
