Camera & Adapter for Pentax PF-65ED-A Scope?

Allan, is this the adapter tube (or similar) that you got from eBay...

Camera & Adapter for Pentax PF-65ED-A Scope?

Thanks, Tero...that Alpen adapter is one I have considered. It apparently does allow the camera to swing away from the lens while still mounted, which would still let you use the scope in a normal mode. It looks a little bulky, but I don't plan on carrying the rig for any great distances, so...

Camera & Adapter for Pentax PF-65ED-A Scope?

Very nice job, Allan. I'd definitely be interested in a similar setup. Unfortunately, I don't have the tools (or experience) to machine such a device, but perhaps I can find a local craftsman who can do it for a reasonable price. Do you know if the A590 uses the same Canon filter/lens adapter...

Camera & Adapter for Pentax PF-65ED-A Scope?

Greetings. I'm seriously tempted to take up digiscoping and it looks like this is the place to come for advice. I currently have a Pentax PF-65ED-A Spotting Scope with a Vixen Lanthanum 8mm-24mm eyepiece mounted on a solid Bogen-Manfrotto tripod/head combo. I'm considering purchasing a...

ED models - how do they compete ?

I've been shopping around for a high-quality, mid-priced binocular and noticed that Amazon.com is now offering the Pentax DCF ED 8x32 for US $514.05. This is a HUGE price drop...is Pentax discontinuing/replacing this model? If so, does anyone know what will be replacing it? And if anyone owns...

    Late October Birding in Switzerland?

Thanks very much, André! That information will be a great help. Now I have to start studying and learn these new birds so I'll be able to recognize them. That should give me something to do on the long plane trip!

    Late October Birding in Switzerland?

I'll be travelling to Switzerland during the last two weeks of October for a family visit (in-laws), and hope to have a little time for my first exposure to European birding. I'll be based in Canton Solothurn, near Olten, and probably will only be able to observe the local birds. I'm a fairly...

    New Fujinon binoculars

I just received a notice from Eagle Optics that they have the Fujinon 7x42 CD currently on sale for $189.99 (MSRP: $535). Sounds like a pretty good deal if you're looking for a 7x binocular. Nothing about the phase coatings, though, so I suspect these don't have it. Here's a link...

    Bushnell Elite 8x43

Hi Frank...yes, I believe we may have exchanged messages back last year when I was shopping for a spotting scope and tripod (I ended up with a Pentax PF-65ED angled scope, Vixen 8-24mm zoom eyepiece, along with a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod & head combo.) If you ever get out to the midstate (about...

    Bushnell Elite 8x43

Thanks, Tero. Actually, one of the main things that impressed me about the Elites was the light weight (~23 oz.), just slightly heavier than my Nikon Monarchs (21.5 oz.). I don't think weight is going to be a issue. The shop where I was testing them is out in the country and has a back porch...

    Bushnell Elite 8x43

I had an opportunity to compare several mid-to-high end roof prism binoculars over the weekend, and of the lot, I was most favorably impressed with the Bushnell Elite 8x43 bins. Besides excellent optical performance, they felt so good in my hands that I had a hard time putting them down, and...

    Eye piece magnification

I recently purchased a Pentax PF-65ED scope with a Vixen 8-24mm zoom eyepiece. That works out to a range of 16x to 48.8x. I haven't settled yet on a magnification that I use more often than others. I usually just start out at the low end and zoom in until I can see what I want.

bobcat, what specifically are you referring to when you say "too sensitive"? I've recently purchased the PF-65 ED and have considered adding one of the XW eyepieces. Thanks...
