Vortex Razor 8x42 vs Zeiss Conquest 8x42

Jerry, Just bought some Vortex and so far build quality looks good but optics are not so good. We have 4 pairs of 15-20 year old Bushnell that cost a fraction of the price and there is no discernible difference in optics (indeed I would say that the Bushnells are superior in some ways...

Vortex Razor 8x42 vs Zeiss Conquest 8x42

Not sure why people in US have such a downer on China? In UK when Japanese products and cars were first sold people called them 'Jap Crap' (not PC these days!). Within 10 years Japanese products were the premium brands and killed a lot of our industry. The Chinese are moving that way even faster...

Trinovid bn 8x32, are they still worthy?

Honda's engineering will be way better than Porsches too!

    Bird Fair 2018

Also at Birdfair 2018, my wife liked the Nikon Monarch's but I could not get on with them.

Quick look throughout a 8.5x42 EL

Looked through the Zeiss Victory today as it gets such a good write up here in the UK. Wasn't in the same class as the Swarovski EL to my eyes nor my wife's eyes.

    Hawke Frontier 8x43 ED / Sapphire 8x43

Tried out the Sapphire and Frontier ED X today and far preferred the Frontier. Would have bought a pair but the eye cups don't come out far enough compared with other brands and they just didn't work for me. If they fixed that design fault I think they'd sell a lot more. Very nice design and...

Looking for opinions, You can only choose 1.....

In my view that would be by far the best option if your budget runs to it and you get on with them when testing them.

Looking for opinions, You can only choose 1.....

Tested them all today. Conquest by a mile the best. Trinovid poor.

    New Viper HD's

Tested them both today. More or less identical in terms of optical performance in the field. Meopta much heavier though.

Trinovid bn 8x32, are they still worthy?

Most major European luxury brands in all sorts of industries source a big part of their components in China. Doesn't really matter with compturised machine tools.

    Mid-price range binoculars?

Well I went to Birdfair today and tested all the above, except Avian and Bushnell Elite which were not available. As expected Conquest were the best but my wife limited my budget! The Trinovids for my eyes were the worst and unusable. Opticron image seemed fine but the feel of them was not...

    Mid-price range binoculars?

Thanks. I think I tested Bushnell HD at last year's Birdfair and they seemed at casual, first sight better than some of the high end ones! Interested to know why you only put Opticron at number 4? Most reviews is have read really rate them.

    Mid-price range binoculars?

    Birdwatching! 8 X 42 or thereabouts.

    Mid-price range binoculars?

Thinking of getting some new binoculars. Ones in frame as I see it are: Hawke Frontier ED X Opticron Imagic BGA VHD Opticron DBA VHD+ Vortex Viper HD Bushnell Elite HD Avian EVO HR ED Perhaps Leica Trinovid or Zeiss Conquest At the end of the day it will depend on which if any suit me / I like...
