    Durham Birding

    If you leave Durham and head south on the A167 to Croxdale, turn right onto the minor road towards Browney, and after about 100 yards turn left onto the now disused road and park at the bridge over the river Wear. Often there are Dipper on the rocks to the east of the bridge.

    Durham Birding

    The parakeet is now fair game under new rules from the wildlife watchdog Natural England which allow the birds to be shot without a licence. Seems a bit draconian, although I believe they are causing problems in orchards in the south east. :C

    Armed with the scuzz and jaybee guide, managed a good lunch of ham and cheese sandwich then these 2 appeared Only trouble was in organising my sandwiches I forgot my tripod and monopod :eek!: so result a bit blurred. Still, will add that as a side note and venture out again later in the week...

    Go to Rookhope in Weardale. Head out towards Hexham and take the right turn up the steep hill towards Blanchland. At the top of the hill there are several black grouse to be seen
