Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

Hi Micloi Thanks for the linkys above. These plus what you yourself have posted really show what this lens can resolve. I am sure some will continue to bang-on about BIF but in terms of pure resolution the images you have pointed to are really impressive. For me, the combination of...

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

The D7100 is a x1.5 crop. I think we can regard these as being quite similar in performance to the x1.6 crop bodies in many respects; the differences between the N&C systems not withstanding.

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

Obviously, the Nikon D7100 (crop body) will AF at f8. Interesting to see when the Nikon-fit versions of this lens are realeased how this combination of lens-body performs in the focus-tracking AF department.

    Canon 300mm 2.8 is ii

I have used both Kerso and WEX and both are excellent to deal with. For SUCH a high ticket item I would probably go with WEX. Other options might be available, see here: http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/Canon/Canon-EF-lenses/Canon-EF-300mm-f2.8L-IS-II-USM-Lens Weirdly, I think £4700 is just...

    Canon 2.0TC Mk11 vs Mk111

Hi Dave If not on this forum I think the TC will sell well on Talkphotography for a shade under £180 if not boxed. You have to have a minimum post count though to buy/sell there. £100 is an insanely cheap price OOI. Have to admit that I would never buy or sell camera gear off ebay although I am...

    Canon 2.0TC Mk11 vs Mk111

If you follow the linky below you will see the comparison tool on the Digital Picture site which gives crops with the 500 and both TCs. Might be of interest ...

    Canon 2.0TC Mk11 vs Mk111

Hi Dave Given a 10s search, Mifsuds have a x2III in mint- condition for £349. They will probably do a px for yours so might be worth asking the trade-in price question ? You could probably find something cheaper elsewhere, I might add. I check Aperture, Park, MPB and the Talkphotography sites...

    Canon 2.0TC Mk11 vs Mk111

Hi Dave I have had Canon x2II and now have the x2III TCs so fell for the marketing ! That said, I was never happy with the sharpness of images produced with the x2II with any lens. I now put the x2III on the 70-200f2.8ISLII with the 60D as my lightweight walkabout kit and am constantly amazed...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi Dave Thanks for the advice above, all points taken onboard. Luckily (or not ?) I am currently ponying up lots of money to put my boy through uni and the daughter is about to start as well so do not need to trouble the financial advising community ! Yours in eager anticipation of getting...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi Dave And if aimed at me (the OP) I might add that I am waiting for Canon 7D2 and new Sigma 120-300 os reviews and once these are out I will assess the body/lens landscape thereafter. You may gather that I am like a kid in a sweetshop thinking about current and future options. Waiting for...

Hi Tim Thanks for the contact. May well do as advised. Regards Gary

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Cheers for the steer Laurence. Might give the 400DO a reconsider then ? I assumed that the early reviews citing poor contrast were really on original copies and users of more recent copies of this lens seen pretty happy. As ever, I reserve the right to be wrong ! Best wishes Gary

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi All Just to update the tread. I recently sold on my 500f4ISL to a really nice guy in response to a "Wanted" thread on another forum. I now really regret losing this lens - definitely sellers remorse - but it was not practical lugging the 500 around so it had to be done I have since...

    Best VFM lens

Hi Steve In terms of VFM buy used. The 300f4 that punta is offering for sale here on Birdforum is a good price for a very good lens. Drop on a x1.4 TC for 420mm with focus limiter and a stop or so of IS combined with great IQ. Doubt you will get better for the cash. Not mine for sale so I am...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi Roy, I had a really good copy of the Sigma 120-300os, so imagine that similar or better optics plus limiter will make for a great lens. The price, initially at least, looks a bit high though for a third party offering. I suppose if you put it in context with the £5000+ that the Canon 300 mkII...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi Roy My friend is Micloi who pops up here from time-to-time. He has some outstanding images with the 300f2.8ISL mk II with and without TCs. The new Sigma 120-300 os mark II (not yet released) also looks interesting but will see what the reviewers/end-users make of it in due course. Thanks...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi John A good mate of mine has suggested the 300f2.8IS mkII plus TC. He has got some great shots with this combination. The more I think about it though I really do not see me parting with the 500f4ISL, it is just such a good lens even compared with the 300f2.8ISL mkI plus TC combination. The...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi Roy/Tim I have just looked at a couple of reviews online and I am coming to the conclusion that there is just no short-cut to decent IQ at 500mm+. I did put up a wanted advert here and on TP on the basis that I could do the comparison myself if I could get a 50-500os at a bargain price but...

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Hi Roy I traded my 300f2.8ISL to get the 500f4ISL so I appreciate your comments. I still have the 70-200f2.8ISLII plus x2mkIII which gives a decent 400f5.6 with IS but I fancy the extra 25% FL that a 500 will offer (obviously slightly less considering the 300plus TC). Gary

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Cheers for getting back Tim. I will look at the blog once I get some time later. OOI, were you using the os or non-os version of the 50-500 ? Regards Gary

Anyone used Sigma 50-500os and a mighty white ?

Anyone compared the Sigma 50-500os v mighty white ? A bit of a comparing apples v oranges question this one, but here goes ! I have recently jigged around my kit going from Canon-to-Sony-to-Canon bodies and have upgraded to a 500f4ISL which I am absolutely thrilled with. I find my current 500...

    Canon 200mm

    Canon 200mm

Hi Jim You can check the reviews at Fredmiranda but my personal experience is that this is a lovely, lightweight, super sharp lens with great build quality and super-fast AF. Have to say I am a big fan of the 70-200f2.8ISLII at this focal length which is why I no longer have this lens. I did...

    Is this worth a punt?

Hi Steve I'd have been a bit more concerned about the internal fungus than the AF motor and as Dave says "better safe than sorry". Lot of glass for the cash though !

    Is this worth a punt?

Stevo Did you win it then ? At the winning price it is a real bargain IMVHO; wish I had seen it earlier ! Regards Gary
