    Changing Garden Birdery

Well..i counted 46 swifts above yesterday! Have the young fledged? My impressions are that song thrush is making a comeback after a long abscence....as are the starlings. However, long-tailed tit, wren and various other smaller birds seem to be really low this year.

Yep Elizabeth! This is the figure that shocked me: "Swift – the survey estimates that 400,000 pairs of Swifts nest in houses, increasing significantly the previous country-wide estimate of 85,000 pairs" So before this...315 000 swifts didnt exist?

    Bat in bright sunshine

Natterer's bat seems likely aswell. i did some research and got the following information: "Natterer's bats are fairly common in southern Britain but are rare in northern parts. Natterer's usually hunt around deciduous trees in woods or parks although they can be found around hedgerows and...

    Tadpole Tragedy

All this rain has caused the pond to spill, and now there are no tadpoles left IN it. I tried scooping them up with a container but it was useless. Unless they all swim back in (some 15 metres for the furthest ones)....then i think ill be getting no little frogs this year :C
