All this rain has caused the pond to spill, and now there are no tadpoles left IN it. I tried scooping them up with a container but it was useless. Unless they all swim back in (some 15 metres for the furthest ones)....then i think ill be getting no little frogs this year :C

During a period of prolonged rain, a bird turned up in my garden that quite puzzled me. It was quite dark and overcast at the time, but i noticed a medium sized bird darting around my garden and the neighbours. The only features i can remember was a constant flashing between black and white on...

    Bullfinches

The grand total of 3 pairs all at one time turned up in my garden today!! 3 striking males and 3 duller female counter parts. Things are looking better for them now, this is the most of seen in a very long time and at a time of year that suggests that they all have survived the winter and are...

    Martins?

Today i saw a group of 6 or 7 sand/house martins heading north along the canal. If i would have seen this group in say July, i would have not questioned my identification of them. But it seems early and ive heard few reports of them, even down south, which makes me wonder if i was mistaken. Has...

I looked straight up at the sky but saw nothing. 10 seconds later i heard it again twice, and it was much louder. Looking up at the sky again i saw nothing. 1. I have never heard...
