Had a very quick look at NDC today plenty of waders about but no swans today, water has decreased again, may be worth going to North cave after and finish at Blacktoft. Thoughts? -

Possibly 7 as a friend of mine is hoping to come too that lives in the area and posts on here, but that works good for car sharing. I had thought about the Blacktoft roost but there's chance of seeing plenty here in the evening too. -

how many of us are there? Car sharing would be best option to melbourne, its not safe to take more than 2 cars there thats all, you'll understand if we go! Not sure re skipwith but at the end of feb last year I was there and heard a number of birds of one of the key species we'd normally look... -

Possibly early but wasnt too early last year when I visited. I've asked NE staff to update me nearer to time but they confirmed only water is at NDC + Wheldrake ings. Suppose we could try Castle Howard again or perhaps some woodland, or even North cave if anything about. When I say showy... -

Sounds good to me! Trying to come up with a plan as everything we normally look for is currently at NDC and looks like staying that way, other places we normally do are dry. Was thinking the following but any other suggestions welcome : Start NDC Bubwith bridge depending on water currently... -

8th is good with me. Will have to make a plan this time as just about everything we normally chase about is at NDC, 88 whoopers, 200 or so Dunlin, 300 goldies, 80+ ruff on my visit yesterday. Today reported same but also redshank curlew snipe 1600 wigeon 115 shelduck 40 pintail 30... -

I'm in of course but Feb will probably be better for me. NDC is as good as I've ever seen it at the moment but water levels are dropping. Stick some dates down and let's see what's best for everyone -

Certainly is minty, you also need to know the best places to look for certain species as its a vast reserve. I've heard green woody just about every time i've visited though on the bomb bays but have seen a couple of times along sands lane but they were brief flight views as you had. Get... -

New to Birding
There's also bank island (next to wheldrake ings), North Duffield Carrs and bubwith/north duffield ings (from bubwith bridge) which are all great places to watch when the floods arrive, but they can also turn up some decent birds throughout the year. -

To be fair you cant expect a charity to keep on plunging thousands (millions?) of pounds into a road that's going to keep getting washed away, DDA Act or no.
