    The ID forum was a help on another bird, so I thought I'd throw this out for informed opinions. Taken 4/15 at dawn in N. California foothills. Couldn't get flight picture for better ID. I thought with feathered legs, and no color differentiation at the shoulder that it is a Dark Morph...

    Red-tailed? TroyES, Placerville, CA,USA

    Took this 12/19,2009 near my house. Big guy, Red-tailed size, perched on telephone pole. I thought a Dark Morph Red-tailed, but a more experienced birder thinks DM Swainson's. Thought I'd post and see what you think. Thanks, Troy
