    Osprey over at just before 2pm. Put pretty much everything up from the pools. Headed south, towards Worcester.

    There is a drawback to the big lens though - not many, but for birds in flight, because the lens is so heavy, it's nigh on impossible to use hand-held for any length of time, so you have to use a tripod. And for me at any rate, that is restrictive when trying to track a bird, especially one...

    A couple of shots from a visit to Grimley on Sat afternoon. Was very windy! I guess this rain will start to bring the water levels back up - not sure that's a good thing, as the dunlins were quite easy to get close to from the raised paths.

    What sort of distance is the bird from the viewing area? Is it for cameras or digiscopes? I'd like to try later, but work is manic so can't slip out earlly.

    Someone let off a few gun shots at about 11am yesterday at Grimley, scaring most things off. Thankfully the egrets all returned. Some shots of other creatures found around the meadows.

    A few more pics of the hobby which has entertained at Grimley. Thankfully ignorant dog-emptiers can't really affect this bird's routine...

    It was collecting twigs today! And picking off dragonflies as they strayed too close. I'll be adding a selection of images of the GWE, LE and hobby to my Flickr pages over the next day or so, plus a few insects too. Here's a pic of all 3 together in the same tree...

    Had a good morning down at Grimley - cheers for the directions Brian. I did, at one point think I'd scared the GWE off, as I approached down one side, despite it not batting an eyelid at a couple walking 2 dogs along the same path. But thankfully the bird returned. Loads of dragonflies too...
