    New Sigma 150/600

I agree with what you're saying, I didn't have time after work to do anything different. I had hoped to get a better subject but luck and time weren't on my side. Typically luck was very much on my side in that respect the day that I had the wrong settings.

    New Sigma 150/600

You're giving me hope that my issues were caused by the light and possible movement of the target. This was my second attempt at calibrating the lens and I thought that I'd beefed the target up enough by screwing the plastic to the wall, I'll have to do more work on fixing the target to the...

    New Sigma 150/600

I agree about shooting at f8, I wanted to test the lens wide open, once I'm happy with it I'll move away from it when possible. I have a decent tripod and find it too restrictive for birds in flight and only really use it regularly in winter when it's cold or if I'm going to be in one place for...

    New Sigma 150/600

The conditions changed during the test which took a few hours from deciding to do it and it ending. I wouldn't have attempted it if I knew how windy it was going to get. I bought the software to take the idiot out of the equation and in the hope that it would remove subjectivity.

    New Sigma 150/600

I used focal pro at the weekend to try and calibrate the lens. The light was good at times and then terrible within seconds because of the wind blowing clouds so quickly. I secured an A4 sized sheet of 1/2" plastic to a wall and then secured the printed target with bulldog clips. I could...

    New Sigma 150/600

The work I've put into the lens is me looking for as close to perfection as possible through customisation and I would have done the same with the contemporary. I over did the changes and suffered for it, reset the defaults and it's fine again. I will make changes again until I know it's as...

    New Sigma 150/600

If it makes you feel any better, I've been altering quite a few settings on my camera and lens and have just taken some of my worst ever photographs. I'm going to start again with the defaults on both camera and lens and start again. My first changes will be to take the lens back to it's...

    New Sigma 150/600

How do you find the software? I've got focal pro and found it a nightmare, I screwed the target to a wall and set up the camera on a solid tripod. The only thing that was variable was the light because it was a breezy day and the clouds were moving at some rate. The wind was a westerly so I...

    New Sigma 150/600

That focus problem is with 2.8 lenses and faster.

    New Sigma 150/600

I have the same lens and camera and don't have a problem unless I do something wrong, which does happen.

    New Sigma 150/600

This is a heavy crop taken with the 150-600 Sport on my 70D and it looks reasonable to me.

They're poor and you're right about the contrast being good enough, ouch.
  13. M

    New Sigma 150/600

Do you think you have enough contrast for the Autofocus to work properly?

    New Sigma 150/600

How would it be possible? I'm not trying to be a butt or anything, I just can't see any logic which would allow that to happen.

    New Sigma 150/600

When you look through the viewfinder you're effectively looking through the lens. The Image stabilisation is on the lens so you stabilise the lens and see it through the viewfinder. You can't change anything on the lens regarding stabilisation which will only be seen through the viewfinder and...

    New Sigma 150/600

It wouldn't be possible to change anything on the lens which was only seen through the viewfinder, it's not possible.

    New Sigma 150/600

The changes are made directly to the lens, how would it work the way you mention?

    New Sigma 150/600

Mine didn't need the firmware updating, I think the ones being delivered now are all up to date.

    New Sigma 150/600

The centre of balance of the bare lens is to the front of the lens but it should be as your camera will tilt it towards the rear, by how much will depend on the weight of your camera.

Mandarin Ducks and I've just noticed that my sensor or lens is in need of a clean.

    New Sigma 150/600

If you're not getting better results than the Sigma 50-500 OS then you have got a problem with the lens. I've used the 50-500 OS which I borrowed off my brother and I've used the non-OS for 7 or 8 years and it walks all over both.
