Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

Hi just reporting back on the Oberwerk SE 8x32, after four months of use. You know how it is, you never "really" know until you've used binos in the field in various conditions. I have to say these have become my favourite "all-rounder, grab n'go" binoculars, and my closet contains original SEs...

Just for info... this is what it says on the body of the binos.

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

I´ve had the Oberwerk SE 8x32 out over the weekend to actually look at birds. There´s nothing really to add....I like them a lot, they´re very competent performers, comfortable and solid to hold, I like the longer barrels and the extendable eyecups that fit my eye sockets comfortably. They are...

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

Thanks Dries, will do. My bro-in-law is a Customs Officer in a medium-sized Chinese city. He bought his first car 15 years ago;).

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

Thanks Dries. Hey, when I was a kid we had an 'outhouse'! Did me no harm, made me the man I am today, etc. Meanwhile I seem to.remember a thread on BF years ago in which a member who had visited Kunming Optical reported very high standards and enthusiastic staff with good working conditions. I...

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

We know all this Dennis. I lived in China when no-one had a private car, and I was the only person on the campus to own a Feng Huang bicycle. A copy of an old "sit up and beg" gearless Raleigh. The only other teachers who could compete with such a ¨"luxury" item rode Song He bikes. And I´ve been...

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

The clothes on our backs, trainers on our feet, caps on our heads. The petrol we put in our cars to go watch birds. The oil and gas we're going to need next winter (even though in EU we congratulate ourselves for 'reducing' our dependence so far). Every electronic item we use. The repressive...

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

Just to clarify...I didn't say that the Oberwerk SE 8x32 are comparable to anything, although I did say that they control CA as well as my Zeiss TFL, and I stand by that with the proviso that I'm talking about one unit of each, and my own eyeballs only. I also said that I have no other 8x32 to...

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

Hi Paul, the weight difference isn't as much as I thought. With straps in, it's 765 v 800g, on my digital scales. Also here's a photo comparing the oculars...I like the big ones on the Oberwerks.

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

A photo showing my 'grip' of the bínos...two fingers around the barrel, two on the focusser. Plus the QC checklist card.

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

My Oberwerk SE 8x32 arrived today. I haven't had much chance to "test" it, and in any case a birding bino needs to be tested over a few weeks while actually birding. Also, I am non-technical, so anything I say is "amateur user" opinion only, applying only to my eyes. I agree wholeheartedly with...

Product Review: Oberwerk SE 8 x 32 ED.

I thinned out my 'collection' to just four binos...Swaro 8x20B, Canon IS 8x20, Zeiss TFL 'Simon King ' Victory 8x32, and Nikon SE 10x42. I swore I'd never buy another binocular, but guess what, I lied! I've just ordered the Oberwerk SE 8x32 (because I miss Nikon SE 8x32), and will post my...
