    Cliff, there's 56 Whimbrel down at Newton today, hangin about with the blackwits. Great views but i wouldn't get out ya car, i didn't try but they were very flighty even when just edgin forward in the car. Also lots of great warblers this evenin at Marton mere. got 2 groppers, but only singing...

    Beautiful shots cliff, especially like the tail feathers on this 'un. I once waited 3/4 hours before any came reasonably close - the landfill lorries scare them off every 5 seconds. cheers.

    A bit out of area, but Manchester's not really got an ongoin thread, so here's one of my pics of one of todays 2/4 Grebes at Penny flash. couldn't find the other two anywhere, so might hav left, but twos nuff for me - id hav had one! Great Birds, never seen in summer plum, before either. cheers.

    Had a Whooper today (well yesterday actually, lookin at the clock) at Grimsargh reservoirs, unexpected, especially at this time o year, always nice to see one local, and lovely birds. made such an entrance it scared away the 2 mutes. cheers.

    I don't know much about Bartle pools (i always have trouble finding them). But for Rossal, i'd say high tide is best for everything there - Seawatching, Waders on the pools. Usually good for passerines as well. Sorry i can't help more.

    I think it's mainly private land, but loads of people (not me ;)) just walk in the old quarried areas anyway.
