Park where indicated in the link below. Cross the road and walk west along the footpath until you reach the sea. The bird will probably be on the rocks in front of you (Red Nab) or further north, along the harbour wall, at the outfall. Try visiting around high tide as this will restrict the...

There were ten se owls over the salt marsh at Marshside late afternoon today, along with two merlins, a peregrine and a gorgeous male hen harrier. Earlier, at dawn, the black redstart at Rossall School showed well along the sea wall and a merlin was sat on a post on Division Lane, Lytham Moss...

Hi Phil, Click on either of these below, these are the fields I saw them on: Lytham Hesketh Out Marsh It's SW of the reserve rather than SE, as I suggested yesterday! The reserve is at the end of Dib Road off Shore Road. It's easy to miss, there's just a small wooden RSPB sign. Hope this helps.

The section of path after lower hide is...

The scrapes are a bit new yet but are starting to attract waders, I had several greenshank there a few weeks ago. You'll need a scope and the 'hide'...

I visited Sunderland Point on Sunday - usual stuff, though 30+ goldeneye and a number of tufted duck on the estuary (presumably displaced from frozen inland habitat) were unusual. However, on the journey back across the causeway, a leucistic redshank was hanging around the marsh by the first...

    Lancashire Birding

Hi, I was at Sunderland Point on Sunday afternoon. High tide was spoiled by a coach load of birders from Warwickshire (I think!) who walked back up the causeway from the car park, flushing everything within 100yds of the road. It's difficult when people are unfamiliar with an area, but it was a...
