    Tayforth Birding

    On your home patch - there's a Wryneck singing beside a footpath. You can hear it long before you see it at the top of a tree. The 'singing' is a series of piercing yelps. It took me 2 days to work out what it was.

    I fear you're right. I saw a pair at St Andrews Univ sports ground on Saturday and a pair at Auchterhouse last autumn. I'd prefer we didn't end up like Edinburgh where they're in every garden. Ben

    Another hot site for GWs is the east edge of Deuchney Wood, Perth - about 1 mile east of Kinnoull Hill.
