Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Fantastic reads on here this evening with everyone either having something different in their garden or sharing cracking pictures, good stuff :t: I had something exciting for me today too as the female GSW came back on more than one ocassion and fed for nearly 5 minutes each time. I don't know...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Have had a bonus for us today with an appearence of a female GSW. I heard a familiar call from the tree outside my bedroom window, looked out, and there she was, exploring all the branches of the tree and she looked to be tapping each branch with her beak as she went along. Got me binoculars...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

A pair of Robins have turned up today, I had been thinking where were they hiding. Blackbirds, Chaffinches and Greenies and all the tits in plenty of numbers. Sparrows and Dunnocks are hovering up leftovers with the Doves and Pidgeons.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Evening frenzy at the moment. Lovely sun shinning through the garden really is beginning to bring everything to life, including the birds. The Housesparrows are beginning to get a bit agressive with each other as no doubt hormones are running wild and pairing up begins. Great Tits have made...

Been a while since I have posted here but still have been watching the birds all over. Went and took my Gran out to a lovely area called Whitwell in Hertfordshire where Red Kites and Buzzards are plentifull. When we got there there was 9 Buzzards all flying together, most I have ever seen at...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Just had a mad moment on the feeders. 8 Goldfinch, which is our highest amount we have seen so far in the garden, all competing with each other and squabbling and even getting fiesty with the Greenfinch. 6 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch and a pair of Tits were trying to get some food in amongst the...

Nice pics earlybird. I don't know what bird that is but it is obviously adapt to swim in water, especially if there was a current as you say. I realy like that first pic, though weather is gloomy, still an amazing scene, that water looks really clear

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

For me it is like winter has suddenly lifted and spring is almost here. More and more bird songs are being heard, particulary the Chaffinch and Song Thrush nearby. Behaviour seems more pairing up and establishing territories rather than just eating for survival now. The Tits seem to be...

Amazing Roger in 2 weeks and at a new place you find that. You must be really pleased? Dunnock once again on the Sunflower Heart feeder. This time for a good minute, he seems quite at ease on it, even more than some of the Male Chaffinch I remember a Robin doing that a couple of years ago...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

It's been an awesome two days of bird watching in the garden here. The birds have all suddenly gotten alot more busier, it's funny how they all seem to return the same time as each other, different species. The flock of Starlings is increasing, all going for the homemade lard fatballs, taking...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

I have to say Gulls I never normally report, though there is always hundreds flying around where we live, as the school is literally next door to us so they hover around for scraps. They always circle over the garden and back to the school, yes, we are that close to my old school lol :P Anybody...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Not at all! You just have to wait for them to either find your feeders, or wait for them to come into your area. You never know what will turn up, I've had experience of that lol I never thought we'd ever have a Green/GSW Woodpecker, Brambling, Greenfinch, Goldfinch and Sparrowhawk visit or...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Sunflower Hearts are the key IMO for attracting a wide range of birds. Just about all garden birds will eat them. If you've got the hearts thats good enough, if you add a couple of different foods for variety also, you got the best chances of attracting the widest range of bird. Just have to...
