The ZR 7x43 ED3 is certainly on par with the other two you mentioned depending on what your priorities are. It is a little lighter than the Mckinley and a little more ergonomic. Centerfield performance is identical. The only area where the McKinley betters the ZR 7x43 is in edge performance...

They were...going by memory. I do remember the 8x42 having more yellow in the image than the 8x32 but, I definitely thought the Sightron was more red to the Theron 8x32s yellow.

J, Thank you for posting your comparitive impressions of all of these binoculars. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it not just for the information but for your writing style as well. I do want to bring up a discussion on the McKinley though. When I first read through your review the initial...

AB, It is funny you should ask for that comparison. Stet and I disagreed slightly on this issue. I will leave that part out for now. Suffice to say that the Meopta HDs were one of the others in the top four. My opinion was that if Meopta made the Meostar 8x42 With ED glass as they did with the...

Glad you are enjoying the McKinleys Gwen. This afternoon another forum member, Stet, came over and we compared close to two dozen binoculars. I would easily say that the McKinleys were in the top four optically with some debate as to which was top dog. http://m.flickr.com/lightbox?id=8542419205

Thanks Steve. I don't find anything objectionable with the tension. No play in my unit. In a perfect world though I think I would prefer slightly slower speed...or maybe I am not conveying that correctly. I would prefer better "depth of focus". It isn't "bad" but I prefer "perfect focus" to...

Opticron has started to establish a US presence. The one location that I know has models in stock is the Cape May Bird Observatory. I was there last October and they had several of their models on display and for sale. JG, Steve, What are your thoughts on the focusing speed/depth of focus with...

Steve, I look forward to hearing about the comparison once you get the GR HDs in hand. I tend to equate my experience with the GR HDs along the same lines as the Bushnell Elite (open bridge) in at least one sense. I bought a pair of the Bushnell Elite (open bridge) 8x43s right after they...

I interpreted it to mean that the new McKinleys were not as good optically as the Golden Ring HDs. If that is the case then I am genuinely shocked. I certainly don't mean any disrespect to those that love the Golden Ring HDs. For whatever reason the Golden Rings (and HDs) were one of those bins...

Bob, I haven't noticed any QC issues on my unit and I have spent a great deal of time staring at the innards of this model. No specs of dust, no sloppy glue, no fingerprints on the prisms, no shiny interior parts that I can see.

Jerry, Stephen, Jay, I would to thank you for the compliments directed towards Steve and myself. These really are very good binoculars. I think most individuals that eventually have the chance to try them would agree. As for the color issue, I do really like the classic black with gold...

Jay, If you enjoy a bin with minimal to no CA then I think you will really appreciate the McKinleys. I finally have had the opportunity to sit down to put together some thoughts on these bins after a few days of use. I would like to explain my earlier comment that Bryce was curious and will...

Just a guess, but I doubt you will see 32 mm models anytime soon. I am still reserving extensive comments for a bit. At first I was a little disappointed but now am quite impressed.
