    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

At this point I am leaning towards the Nikon for ergonomics. Love picking them up, their feel against my face and the feel of the focusing knob. In terms of optical quality I prefer the Mojaves. They just show more detail. Better apparent sharpness likely the result of the better contrast. I...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

I look forward to reading your thoughts on the comparison when the time comes Steve. I did not expect to like the Nikon M7 8x30 as much as I did. For future reference I believe my recommendations for relatively inexpensive 8x32s are going to be the the Sightron SII at $180, the Leupold Mojave at...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Typo, I forgot to mention something about the comparison between the Countryman and the Mojave earlier. If you look at the objective lens comparison pic that I posted earlier you will note the difference in coating color. I have a strong feeling that this is the primary difference in optical...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

I have a few minutes to share some thoughts. I would like to start with the Countryman versus Mojave. After comparing the two side by side I would say that my earlier comments are, for the most part, accurate. I have no doubt that the eyepieces and optical train are the same. The image...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Lastly, a little digibinning comparison in image performance between the Mojave, the Countryman HD and the Nikon M7. My apologies for not perfectly centering the tree in each image. Difficult conditions at the time. Still, it will give you some idea....

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

I had a really busy, but fun, weekend comparing optics. I am debating how to relate everything I saw/did at the Cape May Optics fair. Maybe a new thread in the main forum? I will have to think about it. However, the reason I am posting here is because I did have the opportunity to compare the...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

A couple of thoughts after reading the last few posts..... - I don't know what to make about the eye relief differences. A direct comparison is probably the only way to sort that out. I wouldn't be surprised though to find that both binoculars display the same level of eye relief. - As for the...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Peatmoss, I agree with your comments about preferences for the feel of different lubricants. I am hoping though that continued use ends up "smoothing out" the overall feel of the focusing tension. Will be sure to comment more about that as time passes.

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

I am glad you mentioned the focuser. I mentioned it in my original comments in this thread and also in reference to the Opticron Countryman review. I did not do a formal review but rather just posted some "continuing comments" in addition to Steve's review. If I had then I would have included a...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

I used the Mojave 8x32 extensively over the weekend and continue to be impressed by both its handling and its optical performance. This is one of those binoculars that I have to do a double-take when I lift it up to my eyes. The optical performance performance is just genuine surprising given...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Eitan, My guess on the "outline" difference is possibly the thicker rubber armor. Maybe the thickness of the rubber armor is wider at the objective end than at the ocular end. Just a guess but like I said, I will compare next weekend. I can also compare it to the Nikon M7 8x30 which I have yet...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Eitan, I am actually going to have the opportunity to put the Mojave side by side with the Countryman next weekend as I am attending an optics event down in Cape May. I will let you know for sure there. I think you may be overstressing the short bridge design in your visual comparison of these...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Paul, I haven't measure it yet. As Steve mentioned above the oculars are recessed a fair amount from the edge of the eyecup so there definitely is a difference between absolute and usable eye relief. Having said that I did see on one of the retailer websites a listed eye relief of 16 mm. I am...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

I received my Mojave 8x32 two days ago and I wanted to take the time to share my thoughts/impressions of it since that time. Let me start off by saying that I am extremely impressed with this binocular. I do want to reference kflan's comment above with regard to the Opticron Countryman HD 8x32...

    Review, Leupold Mojave BX-3 8x32

Nicely done Steve. This binocular sounds very attractive in terms of optical performance. What were your thought on overall handling? How stiff is the focusing tension? Any problems with the click stop diopter in terms of getting that "just right" setting? I do hope to have one in my hands some...
