    For cleaning ... :-) Much easier with turned down eyecups. Also when I pass on the bins to someone who wears glasses. Doesn't happen all that often, but still. Hermann

    I actually prefer the old fashioned, rubber fold down eyecups on *any* binocular, provided they're made from high-quality rubber, like the eyecups of the Zeiss Classic binoculars. They're simpler and don't collect so much dirt. I've had twist-up eyecups become stuck because of sand getting into...
