    Birds fae Torry

Torry owl I was around the Ness yesterday for a couple of hours with nothing out of the ordinary to report, dropped by today with wife in tow, (who is not into birding in any form) and met this beauty near the Battery car park. Headed off and landed on the small hill behind the allotments. Jim

Nothing spectacular on the bird front but good views of a weasel searching the rocks to the south of the lighthouse breakwater in Greyhope Bay. Watched for a good 10 minutes before it took off up the road from the breakwater, camera, of course, was in the car !

not a mega but 1st I've seen in this area, a female Wigeon feeding among the roosting Oysetrcatchers on the breakwater in front of the Battery car park, at least I think it is, (not good on female ducks). Have a snap on camera but no cable with me. Jim

Not the best of light today but a couple of shots. Somebody said this bird should be in Russia or thereabouts, wondering if these guys were looking for it ?? This was in amongst the supply boats. Jim

Glaucous Gull ? Sitting in Greyhope Bay at lunchtime and Mark passed, mentioned there was a Glaucous Gull by the sycamore so stopped by on the way back to work. Never (knowingly) seen one so took me a while, but singled out this bird as favourite, just need a confirmation or i'll have to go...

Hi Andrew, must have just missed you today, and the Yellow-Brow, mind you, hard getting anything with 2 grand-children in tow. Managed this little fella though round towards Greyhope on the golf course. Jim.

Really is an accomodating little bird, still on the golf course hawking along the gorse line this lunchtime, just stand and it comes to you. Pity the light was so poor when I was there and starting to drizzle Jim.

    Birds fae Torry

Thanks Andrew, funnily enough on first seeing it at a distance I thought Wheatear, but while watching it it seemed to have wagtail characteristics, i.e. bobbing tail, running round the rocks, this is probably what confused me, (I'm easily confused), is it female ? regards Jim.

Had a 20 minute walk round at lunch time, just need to confirm if this is a the yellow wagtail, looks similar to Andrew's above. Down on shore line opposite the allotments, Jim.

    Birds fae Torry

Thanks Andrew, no wonder I couldn't get it !!, think it was the beak that was putting me off, I should have known really because I got a Guillemot later on but the beak was a lot more discernible, (that's my excuse anyway)|:S| Jim
