If they're not off the battery, try a little further round the headland and into Nigg Bay. As it looks like it might be quite calm, harbour porpoise should be pretty easy from the foghorn too. No-one has had a wheatear here yet so if you get one of them let us know!

Nice pics, and pretty gripping! Thanks for the link. Common dolphin is on my radar for the ness - and it would have been my 8th spp of cetacean from there had I been around. Luckily I can blame missing them on being on holiday and not being half asleep!

    Cetaceans - Aberdeen and beyond

Not quite as glamorous, but the bottlenoses appear to be back around the harbour after about a month or so away. About 12ish altogether, with at least 3 very small, still striped calves.

    Cetaceans - Aberdeen and beyond

No sign of the humpback today from girdle ness but a large cetacean was seen from there on Friday so the humpback has probably been around for a few days.

    Cetaceans - Aberdeen and beyond

Dogger bank during summer should be good. There are loads of minkes and white beaked dolphins out there...I've had humpback, and others I know have had fin out there. Fin is unlikely, but in good conditions, and with a lot of luck, you could get humpback. The birds aren't great out there during...

    Cetaceans - Aberdeen and beyond

No whales seen today as far as I know but the conditions were a little unpleasant! A bit of chop and wind makes seeing these things a little more difficult too!

    Cetaceans - Aberdeen and beyond

It's likely that better ones can be taken, but if it's of any use to anyone I got a fluke shot yesterday up at collieston. On the blog if you want to have a look.
