    This is excellent advice A few years ago with a redundancy cheque burning a hole in my pocket I was determined to upgrade my binoculars. I took myself out to the best optic shop I knew, one with a good outdoor space with views over fields. I then tried Zeiss, Leica and Swarovski back to back...

    There’s absolutely nothing better than trying them side-by-side. Not just optical performance, although that is key, but ergonomic performance too. I was going to buy a premium brand binocular until I actually picked them up. I couldn’t clearly state what I didn’t like but they just felt wrong...
