    As Nutcracker mentioned, normal behaviour by Blue and other Tit species. The metal plates are suggested to prevent larger species entering, not just Woodpeckers, but Starlings and House Sparrows too boot. Greater Spotted will hammer through the side walls quite easily to get to the nestlings...
