    Thanks Tim, I never thought of using a ball head I have one spare. As a diffuser, I have two types the stofen plastic type and a material type with a silver back. This is a much better result instead of using the pop-up flash and my home made ring.

    My first efforts the exif data is in the file. Canon 100mm Macro with 21mm ext tube. 580 flash. The only problem I had was attaching the flash to the bracket, it raised the flash by about an inch above the front element of the lens and wouldn't tilt down anymore so I had to hand hold it to the side.
