    Let's talk PORROS!

Concerning the Fero D19: These were built by Zeiss and they are the current Bundeswehr german armed forces issue. But not to everybody. They are of optical high quality and built like a tank, so robust and heavy. They are laser protected by some internal metal foil that takes away quite a bit of...

    Let's talk PORROS!

It might not be the best performing or most beautiful or most repairable but the Steiner military 7x50 is waterproof and rated to be shockproof up to 11 g.

I have a Docter Nobilem 10x50 that I personally like very much and I think it's very versatile. It's bright, perfect for observations over long distances has a wide field of view and even performs at night or in lower light conditions. Admittedly it's not lightweight but it can be carried around...

The car emission scandal was different: The cars where made to detect when being tested on a lab stand, like monitoring a lack of steering wheel movements. In case a test measurement scenario was detected the car's electronic went to clean mode to pass the limits for just one moment. However on...

    Let's talk PORROS!

I have to agree. Not many people were buying them anymore. And the military binocular market is almost gone. Even the WX, being a new, modern, big size, top of the line binocular might not sell too many. It's a flagship product showing what Nikon is able to do. It boils down to what people are...

No batteries for me please. It's a bit like my bicycle. I'm happy to not have to load a battery but use my own power.

These are nice however unfortunately many got foils glued on the lenses later on that never can get fully removed again. You have to check if these have the foils. Only a very few haven't.

Personally I dislike those retrovids. A true old style Leica reissue would have been perfect. But changing the lens system and only keeping the shape is neither classic nor modern. Just a fashion. This is not what I would buy.

    Let's talk PORROS!

Military demand and production pretty much payed for porro development and production facilities for some long time. Sometimes ending in niches like those laser protected Hensoldt (Zeiss) military porros for Bundeswehr that "waste" some of their optical high quality for their laser filters. This...

    Let's talk PORROS!

I sourced it from a real brick store via the internet. Had been looking for some new in box pair and that's what it is. That size seems to be especially sought after and almost nobody seems to sell his again. I'll keep mine for sure. My remark about some 8x60 is more like a theoretical...

I like big porro prism binoculars as well. They might be heavy. But they are easy to hand hold and you get some true quality view and picture. I like my Docter Nobilem 10x50 very much and carry it on longer walks as well although not around my neck all the time. Maybe the lightweight small roof...
