    Indeed Gmelin did refer to Buffon in his OD as mentioned in the key. And Buffon wrote what's written in the Key here But this can't be the original from Buffon as it seems to be published 1799. Where to find the original? The subspecies barrowcloughianus might be enhanced by the middle name...
