    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

Sorry if I gave that impression. I knew that 3 was the same bird as 4 (it's just that 4 is a much better image for ID), although I'd forgotten 1 and 2 were the same. Looking again at image 2, I'm going for Spectacled Bulbul again. I think there's a faint yellow orbital ring and I've just...

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

Hi again, A number of points here. 1. The 1st green pigeon. I did consider Thick-billed, and the bill is definitely heavy, but I was put off by the lack of the blue-green border to the eye shown by females and the lack of red on the base of the bill. On the other hand, the flank/vent markings...

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

It looks to me like there may be white tips to the tail feathers. Could it be a cuckooshrike? I did notice that, and the other white blotches on the undertail, but I wasn't sure if they're real or not. If it is a cuckooshrike, I think the only one it could be is a male Lesser (I'm pretty sure...

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

The main difference between Grey-headed and Lesser Fish Eagles is the tail pattern. Grey-headed has a white upper tail (and undertail) with a clearly-defined black terminal band, whereas Lesser has a darkish upper tail with a poorly-defined terminal band. I'm not seeing a white upper tail on the...

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

Apart from the House Swift in the 5th image, the other birds look like either Edible-nest or Black-nest Swiftlets, virtually impossible to tell apart. I would suggest your flowerpecker is more likely to be a female Yellow-breasted (heavy bill, red iris). The last bird can only be a minivet -...

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

6th set: 1-2 - it's one of the larger bulbuls, seems to have a crest, maybe Puff-throated? 3-4 - hard to say which colours are genuine - the 1st image reminds me of a Ruby-cheeked Sunbird 5 - either Grey-headed or Lesser Fish Eagle

It's possible - it looks a little slim though.

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

5th set: 1-2 - the closest I can get is Spectacled Bulbul, but it looks strangely warm-coloured 3-4 - Buff-vented Bulbul (silvery eye) 5 - juvenile Asian Glossy Starling

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

4th set: 1-2 - Puff-backed Bulbul? - not sure though 3 - dark eye and fine head streaks plus yellowish wash on breast suggest Ochraeous Bulbul or similar - probably Grey-cheeked on location as Ochraceous occurs in mountainous areas 4-5 - Erpornis? surely not a bulbul if it hangs upside down

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

3rd set: 1-3 - agree with KGS on Whiskered 4 - looks like a raptor, not a myna - surely that's a Bat Hawk with that huge bright yellow eye? 5 - not a Drongo - blood-red eye and bill and tail shape suggest Asian Glossy Starling

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

2nd set: 1-2 - are they the same bird? #1 looks like more Brahminy Kite but #2 is definitely a White-bellied Sea Eagle (white trousers) 3 - I think you're probably right with Grey-headed - bill is heavy and two-toned 4 - agree on Little Green 5 - agree on Pink-necked

    Some birds from Malaysian Borneo

I've only got time to look at the 1st set now but will come back to the other sets later. 1 - agree on f GGL - yellow throat and eye-ring 2-3 - most probably Red-eyed Bulbul, as the underparts look dusky rather than creamy 4-5 - White-breasted Woodswallow The birds at the airport are juvenile...
