    Just down a bit from the fens pools on the canal near footshole, is a male mandarin in amongst the mallards. Been told its been about for three weeks

    Popped over in the week and the warden and a few volunteers were litter picking. 20 bin bags full in an hour. Not much in the way of birds though.

    Had a message yesterday of a friend who fishes the pools. Little Egret was within 15 foot of him and kept him company until 22.14 at least 2 hours. He got a photo with his phone as proof, he was really chuffed to have been so close.

    I try and pop over as early as possible. All the locals are still hungover in there pits. Not been for a couple of weeks, been over kinver watching a buzzard family fledge. Was great to see the first flight, makes getting up early more worthwhile.

    I am very local to the area and I am keen to photograph the bullfinches over there. Were is the best place to see them as I am new to birding. Thanks Andy.
