    Is Nikon done with Alphas

Thank you, that's helpful information. I'd like to buy a Nikon Z in the future, but the optional zoom lenses are more expensive than the camera. For example, the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S costs over $2k!, so I'll hold on to my old lenses.

    Is Nikon done with Alphas

Glad to provide some comic relief! Last spring, I found an old Thyristor flash booklet in the basement that had a model in a bikini with 70s hairdo on the cover. I'm not sure if I kept it, but when I do my spring cleaning, I will keep an eye out for it.

I'm hoping that like the Lexus LFA, Nikon's WX technological innovations will trickle down to the level of affordability. Plus, for me, a WX would cost twice the price since I'd have to pay another six grand for a rhinoplasty, otherwise, I'd never be able to get those monstrous EPs anywhere near...

"more like Leica than Leica"-- send that to Nikon to use for its marketing of the EDG II's successor. :-)

    Is Nikon done with Alphas

Hi Tom, I used an F2 when I was the communications supervisor for a large corporation in NJ. I had it screwed on to an accessory bar that also housed a Thyristor flash, and I carried it everywhere I went while at work including after hours events like covering a gala fundraiser for the New York...

Have you tried the horned eyecup shields? They work well in stopping stray light coming into the EPs, but for my face, they are way too long and give a tunnel view through the EDG. You have clearly identified why Nikon doesn't try to compete against the Big Three in Europe, but Nikon has a much...

Hi Jerry, That's a good point! After all, at over $6,000, how many WX binoculars could Nikon realistically hope to sell, but they made them anyway to prove the technology, which shows that Nikon is interested in innovating. And like many optics innovations, some of those on the WX may trickle...

But then came the Internet, smartphone, iPad, video games, and social media. Those were "foolish things" that youngsters didn't do back in the day that keep today's youth indoors. I live in a college town, and the students are always on their phones even when they're walking outside (they must...

Thanks, Tom. I didn't know about Hogan's reviews. I just found his sansmirror.com website, and he has even more reviews of cameras and lenses than Ken Rockwell. In fact, there are so many reviews, and he's been doing them for so long, that he wrote if there was a review you wanted to read that...

Agreed about the chassis. I prefer the M7/HG design since they are lighter and slimmer, so it's easier for me to wrap my fingers and hands around the barrels. I also think the designs looks more elegant. The shiny, plastic EDG badge cheapens the EDG's look, IMO. According to Allbinos, the light...

    Is Nikon done with Alphas

I was just thinking the same thing and was planning on writing a new thread on what birders would like to see in the EDG III. Last year, Nikon posted a 90% revenue loss, which was mostly due to a precipitous drop in camera sales, but EDGs weren't exactly selling like hotcakes either. Top tier...
