    I missed these Deborah, I esp love the gull wc of great delicacy and out of the box capture shows me what to reach for in my own work as I start to study gulls.

    very vibrant, which is the oil pastel's best suit...you can get another effect, by painting over it with turps, it melts it into a paint but keeps the strokes too.

    what a treat to open this thead today! that one walking is worthy of a zen master, and being immersed in egrets, I see some simular lines ...clearly an iconic bird for you, really brought out your best...hope to see more....

    great sketching, and from my POV knowing what is what is really super, not sure I'll ever be able to do that....the night herons are a fav of mine, there are lots at the egret tree I've camped at the last 3 weeks and they are so slow and easy going compared to the hyper egrets...they squawk...

    Ha! maybe I've attended too many art schools, :-) realism to me means it looks like what it actually is ie a stork not a staircase. I guess there is a spectrum tho, from photo realism to the lovely free work you show here. Looks like you're having a ball painting, it's full of energy and verve.
