Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Agreed. The Sightron is an awesome bargain and the optics are amazing for the price. Best I have ever seen for the money. Frank is right on these.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

What you are saying is the EDG is probably the best roof in the world because we know without a doubt the 10x42 SE is the best 10x porro right. If it it close to the SE in your eyes that is saying ALOT!

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Like Ceasar says take a chance. If you don't like them(doubtful) you can always resell them on E-bay for a profit.

Here's your chance Black Crow! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-EDG-8x32-Binoculars-Pristine-Condition-Sharp-stunning-view-No-reserve-/120849334648?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c232e8178 They are EDG I's but the optics are the same.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I really wish Black Crow if you are not going to add something meaningful to my thread you wouldn't come back with these negative remarks. It just ruins the thread. You are just dead ending the thread. It's like you just want to personally attack me instead of talking about binoculars. It is...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

The point I want to make is that the Sightron is a very good binocular for the price but I don't want people to think they are getting an EDG II or an FL. My point is if you can afford the $2K definitely go for the EDG II it is worth the difference. If you can't afford it the Sightron is still a...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

SIGHTRON UPDATE It was a nice sunny day here in Colorado so I had alot of time to compare my Nikon 8x32 EDG II to the Sightron 8x32 SII Blue Sky. After quite a bit of side by side testing I still say the Sightron is the best bargain binocular out there but it AIN"T no EDG II. The EDG II is...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Especially when the argument is illogical and has no grounds and reasoning behind it. If I don't like a binocular that is my opinion. When somebody owns that binocular they start defending it like it is their kid. Heh, we can have different opinions. That's what this forum is for. I am entitled...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Gimme a break! BlackCrow. I think the problem is your not intelligent enough to understand what I am saying and you don't have enough experience with optics to even be arguing with me.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

The 6.5x proved to little magnification for me so I sent them back and got the 8.5x21's. I compared them to the Nikon Prostaff's 8x25's and found the Nikon's to be much better quality especially for birding. That's when I posted my review. I don't post everything I do my friend on Bird Forum so...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I tried them on some bugs and the overall quality did not impress me. I am glad you like them but it is not going to change my opinion. Everybody has a different opinion. I think they are a CPOS. I think alot of the people that rated them never had a really good binocular to compare them with...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

The Pentax was better than the Papilio though. Brighter too when I compared them side by side. The Papilio didn't impress me even for a compact. CPOS.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I agree with the shallow focus. The Nikon Prostaff 8x25's work better for birding and are the same price. Brighter and sharper too. Nikon makes alot of good binoculars don't they. HaHa. The SE, EII's and EDG. Whew. They make some fine binoculars and cameras!

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Yes. That's pretty much my opinion on them. I didn't think to much of them. For looking at bugs maybe but not birding. They are built pretty cheap too. They are dim and I didn't think they were that sharp.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I had some Pentax Papilio 8.5x21's for awhile. Although it was cool the way you could focus close I didn't think there optics were that great for birding. Just average. Nikon Prostaff's for example were better. Sent mine back. Of course I am not a big fan of compacts anyway. I tend to think the...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I am still impressed with the optics on these Sightrons. The coatings seem very impressive on them also. They work very well for stray light for a $200.00 binocular. It's weird how they can make an 8x32 so small and light when the EDG's are so much heavier. The EDG's must have a more complex...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

OK. EVERYBODY that has a Sightron Blue Sky II put it in the refrigerator for one hour. Take it out and see how stiff the focus Is. Try the focus before and after you put it in the refrigerator. A refrigerator is about 40 degrees so this should be a good test. I am still keeping the Sightron...

Let me know. Maybe mine has too much grease in it or something.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Changed my mind Lilcrazy. I guess I can do that. Sorry it upset you. I am still on the fence on them. Might keep them for the summer. I have to say I wouldn't recommend them anymore if you are planning on using them for winter birding. Somebody should contact Sightron about the problem. I don't...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I haven't had a problen with the Zeiss FL or Nikon EDG. Let me tell you Steve the focus is too tight on the Sightron Blue Sky II especially in the cold and if somebody says it isn't they are blowing smoke UNLESS mine are defective. But I am hearing other complaints so I think mine are normal.

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I still recommend them for a warm climate but they get progressively stiffer the colder it gets. I don't know I might keep them for summer birding. They irritate me when I try to use them when it is cold. If the focuser was just a little easier to turn. Try them in the cold and see what you...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Sightron Update Had my Sightrons out in the cold today too. The focus just gets too hard. I can't follow fast birds. Until Sightron puts some cold weather grease in these things they are just unusable in colder climates. I decided to keep them for summer birding because they are so good optically.
  23. D

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

Probably because the optics on the EDG I are the same as the EDG II. The balance of the EDG I although not quite as good as the II was still good. I prefer the EDG II now over the EDG I because of the improvements but since optics are the number one priority to me I would have still sold the...

Can you buy a good roof prism for $200.00 or are you jerking our diopter Frank?

I liked the 8x32 EDG I too but I was surprised with the EDG II they sent me. I didn't think I would like it as well but I do. They made alot of improvements on it. The armouring is alot nicer, the diopter works better, the eyecups stay on better and the big thing is how the balance is improved...
