    Way back on page 2 I noted the Viking ED FF (Flat Field) appear to be the same binocular so could be worth a look at Viking Optical.

    Hi CliveP Actually coma is something else see here: http://www.nikon.com/products/sportoptics/how_to/guide/binoculars/technologies/technologies_08.htm The bright ring is likely due to a reflection rather than a lens/prism defect.

    Frank, confusingly Viking have 2 sites, this one http://www.vikingopticalcentres.co.uk/binoculars/binoculars/full-size/viking-8x42-ed-ff has them on sale at £399 but an ebay vendor has them at £349.

    These look very similar to the Viking Flat Field bins which I happen to know also focus counter clockwise to infinity. I saw a prototype of the Vikings a year back or so and was impressed with the sharpness/brightness on a very quick view which was all I was allowed at the time. I would guess...
