    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Fast card ! You need to use the fastest cards to avail yourself of the advantages of 4K, KenM. That may be what's causing you to stutter. Alternatively, one of my friends has had to have his new 1000 exchanged, as it was faulty and 'set itself' to f0.0 !

And, just as with your Blue Tit previously, the image responds very well in Photoshop. Awesome !

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Temptations are but sent to try us, Swissboy ! I would submit. (Oh, I did.) It took me some time (mainly because I couldn’t find another owner in my vicinity), as can be seen from this thread, but it was well worth it. You’ll find such a leap in quality in features and ease of use to the...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

That 'grabbed' Blue Tit is beyond brilliant, scotview. Don't think I'll bother taking stills ever again. Do you suppose similar results are possible with, say, VLC ? Or, is it necessary to invest in that software (Power Director) you mentioned ? I've just essayed a bit of light editing (with...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

At the moment, I have both set to '0', Tony. Contrast: -1. I'll leave it to you to decide whether I gave it 'good feather' in my last shot.

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Flight shot Quite pleased with this young Iceland Gull from yesterday, at Salthouse Duck Pond. It was wheeling around, as a couple threw bread into the air, for all the thronging sea-gulls.

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Finally, a comparison Thank you, scodgerott. With the camera a little distance away, I decided, for the meanwhile, to take a screenshot from the video, paste it into Paint, edit using Photoshop, then re-export to Paint (for down-sizing). Phew ! The next time, I will try it in the camera, as...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

I’m afraid a ‘senior moment’ was suffered yesterday: I didn’t mean ‘upload a video’, but how to make a still from the video I recorded ‽ I’m hoping scodgerott might assist, in this respect. Thank you, in any case, njlarsen.

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Dear Marsh Warbler: I was hoping someone else might answer this ! I believe we’re arguing the same case and something has been ‘lost in translation’. I am definitely NOT advocating a DSLR- and have never owned one. It is portability, compactness, weight, ease-of-use and price that influences my...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Thank you, Marsh Warbler, for posting this, for our delectation and delight. Beware: reduce the volume, those who haven't yet played this. Whilst I found it very entertaining, I didn’t understand most (!) of what this enthusiastic chap was saying. For me, one of the most important features of...

About 90 miles from Skegness, stuarta21. I've sent you a PM re your other question- and about 20 feet (7m) from me !

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Those are impressive, scodgerott; see what you mean about the 'normal process'. I must have a go myself, asap. (By the way, I always thought Robins were supposed to have red breasts and hop about amidst the snow.) |:D| Was the extracted EXIF data useful, stuarta21, or would you like to me to...

It was pretty dull, by this time. The image is only re-sized: otherwise unedited.

Yes. Illuminates in an equally impressive fashion.

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Astonishing flash ! I had no idea that the flash would be so much more powerful. The LH shot is without; the RH, with. The Church is at Cley (not just known for its birds) and is quite a large area to illuminate. They were taken today, with no sun outside. The only editing: resizing.

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

One of the features of the FZ-50 (my first bridge camera) I most missed was the manual focus on the lens. This, of course, is so useful in certain wildlife shots, when vegetation partially obscures a creature and makes focussing difficult/impossible. This re-appears on the FZ-1000, but with...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Thank you, scodgerott ! I could easily be mistaken ! It happens more frequently these days. Just tried it (with the FZ-150)- and can only get to 1m.

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

I probably spend no more than a minute 'freshening up' each photo. Often, I will take hundreds of shots; saving fewer than, say, ten. I reduce (that internal cropping thing) to, usually, 5MP, which gives the 32x. If quality pics are required then, of course, I use higher res. Here is what was...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Thank you, Swissboy ! The equivalent (binocular) magnification of the FZ-150 at my usual zoom setting was 37.5x; the FZ-1000, 32x. The fact that the minimum shooting distance is now 1m may now prove to be an advantage, for the reasons stated. I think the reduced 'magnification' at a distance...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Further observations & pix I've now owned this for all of this month; using it most days. As I become more accustomed to its operation, I think I'm beginning to produce better photos. Usually, I set the AWB to 'cloudy' and will start experimenting with other minor alterations, in the quest for...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

I am now the proud owner of one. In dire conditions today (driving rain, strong winds, dull to low light, I managed a few shots from inside the car, across a stretch of water. The pair were about 50m distant; the duck about 40m. They were taken on maximum optical zoom, at 5MP. In each case...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Swing low, sweet Lumix ? Thanks to both of you (scodgerott and KenM) for your efforts, photographic ‘evidence’ and commentary on my behalf. I must say I’m most impressed with the incredible zoom, reaching from Oz to Canada with such quality of image.;) Please keep the thread going in this...

    Panasonic FZ1000 Review...

Wonderful Stonechats, KenM ! Now, could I ask a favour ? As I’ve previously indicated, I don’t wish to spend a lorra money without evident betterment of results. Would it be possible for you to take shots of something (probably a bird) in low light, even difficult, conditions, please ? Then...
