    Best camera/lens for bird photography WITHOUT a tripod

    If you hunt around for the best prices and don't mind imports then for that budget you could get a Canon 1DX + 1.4 Mk3 extender and a Canon 500 F4 L IS Mk2. A bit on the heavy side but manageable. A local photographer uses this lens and a 1D4 and I almost never see him with a tripod - he walks...
