Hi, I'm Heidi--just moved to the Dhahran area and am wanting to learn about the birds of the Arabian Gulf. Any suggestions as to good bird guide for our area? Thanks--hope to hear back.

Hello Heidi,

We have just got back to sunny Saudi so I have not had time to unpack yet. As soon as I get some details, I will send them on. Are you working at Aramco? If so you may find "Birds of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia" in their library. It's by no means a field guide, more of a coffee table book. I don't know if it's been updated as my copy is quite old.

Hello again,

The field guide I use is Collins, "Birds of Europe with North Africa and the Middle East" ISBN 0-00-219894-0

So far it has had every bird I have seen in it.

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Adrian
