Your opinion on Bushnell Spacemaster 20-60x60mm (1 Viewer)

Gentlemen,

first of, a confession...

I'm not a bird watcher. I'm a shooter. All I watch and need this thing for, is the holes on the targets at 300 yards and beyond.
Why am I asking here?
Because you, guys, are the most advanced people in the area of field optics.

The situation in my case is "complicated" by necessity of LER (Long Eye Relief) or even extra LER.
I'm sick and tired removing glasses every time when I look into it.

The rifle scopes are very generous on this subject, but not the spotters.

Unfortunately not very many have that feature (LER eyepiece).

What caught my eye was this model:

SKU# 78-7360
Bushnell Spacemaster 20-60x60mm
http://www.bushnell.com/products/spotting_scopes/specs/78-7360.html

Has anyone had any experience with this one?
Any Pros or Cons?

And of course - the question of all the times,

Any feedback would be really appreciated

Thank you in advance

I have a 15-45x bushnell 60mm Spacemaster. The eye relief is not that good on that eyepiece. Try checking the specs on eyepieces for eye relief on B&H Photo- they have an excellent website for optics. Otherwise the scope should do fine for your needs if you're shooting .30 caliber or higher.

I used a 20-60 x 60 Spacemaster for twenty years. It's a first-rate scope - sharp and very weather proof. But the eye-piece was an Opticron one, not Bushnell, and didn't give much field of view if used with spectacles.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your input.

Kevin Mac,
That's exactly what I shoot at 300 yard and beyond - 308 Win.
Could you, please throw here a link you mentioned?
Is this the one?

Bluetail,
Of course, with longer LER we loose on field of view. But looking at a particular target on the range it doesn't seem to be a big issue.

Thank you again

Another possibility would be to buy a Pentax scope, since all of their models take standard 1.25" astronomical eyepieces. There's a huge range of astronomical eyepieces available, both new and used, desgined to mazimize all sorts of different parameters including eye relief -- you can find eyepieces of practically any focal length with at least 20mm of eye relief, though some may be expensive. One possibility would be the cheap 7-22mm zoom available under different names including the Orion Explorer II <http://www.telescope.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=232&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=6&iSubCat=36&iProductID=232>. It's got lousy color and VERY limited field of view, neither of which I imagine would be an issue for you. It also offers 16-32mm of eye relief, and goes for around $45.

Hi there , i am a serious birder and would like to buy the Bushnell Spacemaster 20-60x60mm for birding. Anyone out there with some feedback.
Is it worth buying this scope ( low budged birder )
How is the picture up to a x 40 zoom ?
Awaiting your answers.
Cheers
Philip
