It does indeed sound spot on for tristis. Would be nice if you got some pictures too (and singing :))
 
Well, the sound are better for id I suppose and the song also sounds spot on so there shouldn't really be any doubt.
 
Hi Jane,

both call and song sound spot on for tristis (as you know). A sharp-eared friend of mine asked if that really was a singing Arctic Warbler at the end of your recording with the tristis song? A tape running close to some mist-nets maybe?

There wouldn't be a mist net, but there might have been someone trying to get a view. That would explain why there were suddenly 5 or so very clear bursts of song some time after I'd last heard the bird. I caught the last one. Earlier in the day it had only piped up once and was very unenthusiastic. I'll see if anyone will cough to it. I'd assumed it was a Wren!
